Payara SURF Contracts Awarded and Work Underway

January 2020

All major Payara subsea equipment and installation contracts were awarded in 4Q19.  These contracts were awarded as a partial release to begin critical path activities, with a full release anticipated after the project is fully funded.  Project teams are now mobilized and kickoff meetings were held for most of the contracts.

Saipem was awarded the Flowline and Installation contract (EPC3), and the team is progressing detailed engineering and execution planning for the three offshore installation campaigns. The purchase order for line pipe was issued by Saipem to Sumitomo, who will manufacture the pipe at their Japan facility. The first delivery of line pipe is planned for 2Q20.

Also, during 4Q19, the contract for Flexible Risers (EPC4) was awarded to TechnipFMC and detailed design engineering is underway. The equipment will be fabricated at TechnipFMC’s facility in LeTrait, France, and provided to Saipem for installation. TechnipFMC was also awarded the contract for Subsea Equipment Supply (EPC2), which heavily leverages the Design One Build Many approach from Liza Phase 1 and 2. The EPC2 team is progressing detailed engineering and commenced procurement activities for pre-first oil subsea trees and manifolds.

Several major purchase orders for long-lead equipment were issued during the fourth quarter. The Umbilicals Supply scope (PO1) was awarded to Aker Solutions. The Payara project will require 11 umbilicals, which will be manufactured by Aker in Mobile, Alabama. The team is currently progressing detailed design work.

Oil States Industries (OSI) was awarded the contract (PO3) to supply the FlexJoints™ for the five injection risers. Receptacle castings for the FlexJoints are underway at Bradken’s facility in Washington, and delivery of all castings is expected by YE2019.

Lastly, Advanced Technology Valves (ATV) was awarded the contract (PO5) for the subsea production manifold header valves. ATV is fabricating the valves in Italy and will continue machining and cladding activities into 1Q20.
