The Liza Phase 2 FPSO team achieved a key milestone during the fourth quarter with receipt of the MPF’s final class certification and the sail away of the vessel from Shanghai to Singapore. This milestone brings the team one step closer to the transformation of the MPF vessel into the FPSO Liza Unity. Teams working on MPF1 put in tremendous efforts during the third and fourth quarters to ready the hull for departure to Singapore. Activities focused on mechanical completion and commissioning of the MPF for sail-away such as the completion of system load tests for all essential MPF generators, ensuring the firewater pumps are operational, and starting up the MGO system.
The MPF tank system is also running and the team performed stagger testing during the fourth quarter to confirm the structural integrity of the tank system as required for final certification. The accommodations on the MPF were also completed during fourth quarter, and this area of the vessel will be maintained as necessary until utilization during the sail-away for Guyana in 2021.
Structural steel fabrication and topsides assembly activities continue to progress well in Singapore. Pre-fabrication of the mooring and riser structures continues to progress and Keppel is well positioned for installation of this during dry-dock of the MPF. Also, during the fourth quarter Dyna-Mac ramped up pipe spool fabrication and welding activities, and initiated the blast and paint campaign.
