Liza - One team, One home, One destiny

In late January, the ExxonMobil Guyana affiliate and SBM Offshore teams developed a set of shared values for the in-country asset team. The goal was to establish a One Team vision that aligns not only with ExxonMobil’s and SBM’s core values, but would also be meaningful in the context of the Guyanese culture. Participants also brainstormed on the desired team culture, as well as workforce and leadership behaviors.

During this collaborative workshop, the motto of “One Team, One Home, One Destiny” was established for the operating asset team. This motto reflects Guyana’s national motto of “One People, One Nation, One Destiny.” To support the One Team vision, it was decided that everyone on the asset team would have the same overalls in the same color, to avoid a visual distinction between the ExxonMobil and SBM teams.

“If we’re one team and one home, we can share one destiny,” said Russell Carter, operations readiness technical coordinator, ExxonMobil. “The motto seems to resonate with the local Guyanese, and to foster a sense of unity even among team members from different locations.”
