Trees Branch Out in Trinidad

November 2018

The first and second of 17 tree systems engineered and manufactured by TechnipFMC are bound for Trinidad.

This follows successful completion by TechnipFMC of the tree system 1 assembly at its Rio manufacturing facility in Brazil. The tree also underwent meticulous systems integration testing ensuring functionality of all components in the design requirements. The SIT verifies that all drilling and installation tools used offshore interface properly with the subsea tree system. This test is done after assembly of the tree, tubing head spool and tubing hanger to take all the tools, plug them in, and make sure they work before the tree system is set on the sea floor for 20 years. View the video here.

Team members based in Trinidad will be preparing the tree systems for load-out to the multi-purpose vessel in support of well completion activities in late 2018.

Meanwhile, ExxonMobil is working with shorebase contractor Chagterms to prepare the equipment and laydown space in Trinidad to accept the tree systems and associated tooling.

Everything went as planned in Houston, Texas as TechnipFMC’s facilities completed assembly and testing related to the hydraulic power unit that will power the subsea equipment systems.

TechnipFMC also tested and assembled the control units that will eventually be integrated into the topsides local equipment room at Dyna-Mac to communicate with the subsea equipment.

Thanks to a solid, collaborative One Team approach, the equipment was shipped out smoothly and efficiently to Singapore for eventual integration with the FPSO facilities at Keppel and Dyna-Mac.

Houston’s Spitzer facility remains busy with integration of piping kits into the two production manifolds. Additionally, fabrication has commenced on suction pile foundations.

Reel achievements

TechnipFMC completed its first pass layup of the main subsea umbilicals at its Channelview facility near Houston.
